Due to difficult geographical condition in Uttarakhand, most of the areas have no industries. As a result youths are migrating from their home town in such of employment. In case of cultivation of aromatic plants in clusters approach, local youth/farmers could be engaged in cultivation, processing, distillation and marketing of aromatic produce and revenue could be generated.
There are opportunities for local youth, farmer and entrepreneurs for employment generation and source of livelihood for local inhabitants as establishment of distillation units are itself work as MSME’s in rural areas.
Employment Generation through Aromatic Crops
One of the significant outcomes of CAP is to generate employment of 93358 beneficiaries during the year 2018-19 among them 89160 beneficiaries are by dovetailing with MGNREGA and rests 4198 are self employed. These beneficiaries are not only the farmers who involve in the cultivation of aromatic crops but the entrepreneur also who are establishing Field Distillation Units in different clusters of aromatic crops. Most of these beneficiaries are using this income as an additional livelihood option which is contributing to enhance their quality of life.
